The number of Brazilian tourists in Uruguay grows

According to the Ministry of Tourism of Uruguay, there was an increase of approximately 35% in the number of Brazilian tourists who visited the country in the first four months of that year, when compared to the same period of 2016.

The agency also reported a 27% increase in the arrival of foreign tourists, in addition to a 43% increase in the consumption of tourism services, totaling US $ 1,257,932,875. It is estimated that every visitor has spent in the country daily about $ 108.

Specifically, more than 180 thousand Brazilians were on Uruguayan soil this year and is the second in terms of the number of visitors. Argentina leads the ranking with 1.3 million tourists and Chile in third with a little more than 32 thousand visitors.

Among the most sought after destinations are Punta Del Este with an increase of 30.7% compared to the first four months of 2016, Montevideo with growth of 16.5%, Thermal Coast with 45.4%, Costa de Rocha 74.4%, Costa Gold 51%, Colony of Sacramento 9.5% and Piriapolis with 32.7%.

The Ministry also highlighted a positive balance in the balance between the expenses incurred by Uruguayan tourists abroad and the expenses of visitors in the country, which represented a total of US $ 861,198,353.
