Tour operators to attend WTM Latin America 2018

At WTM Latin America 2018 – the main global event for the Latin American travel industry – several national and foreign operators will be present, and some of them are already confirmed for the next edition, which takes place between April 3 and 5, 2018, at the Expo Center Norte, in the city of São Paulo.

Foreign operators Iran Doostan and Restel will return to the 6th edition of the event; and the national Newmon, and Tourmed. Debuting in this edition is the Portuguese travel agency Living Tours Travel and Tourism, which already has 13 years of experience and operates in Portugal and Spain. “The interest in participating in WTM Latin America is associated with the fact that it is a more positioned event for the international market, thus involving more players in the tourism market in Latin America”, reinforces Rui de Carvalho Terroso, CEO – Living Tours. “We have already taken part in other events promoted by WTM (London and Dubai) for several years and are very well organized events, with very interesting buyer programs and very good work tools, which has brought to Living Tours good results and great deals, whether in London or Dubai – and hopefully now also here in Brazil. ”

Another novelty in the event is the English operator Viator International, specialized in religious tourism. With more than 25 years of experience in the market, Viator has been active in Europe through its UK and Latin American base by its partner in Uruguay, Peregrinando s.r.l.

According to Luciane Leite, director of WTM Latin America, the operators and agencies are fundamental in the tourism market, for being responsible for creating and facilitating the options of the tourists. “In Brazil alone there are more than 36,000 agencies and operators that employ 69,654 people, so it is important to create an environment that allows operators to get closer to destinations, hotels and investors, and to enable them to internationalize, contributing to the entire sector in America Latina. “, Adds Luciane Leite.

A recent survey by the Ministry of Tourism, in partnership with Sebrae, points out that in Brazil, 3.6% of GDP comes from the tourism sector, which directly and indirectly employs approximately 2 million people. Of these, 69,654 work in agencies and travel operators, which in 2014 totaled 36,003 units in Brazil.

The tourism market has established itself as one of the most important in the world. The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) estimates that by 2016, more than 1.2 billion people traveled the world. The average annual growth, according to the institution, is 4%, having already reached 7 consecutive years of growth.
