Airline announces fleet with paid Wi-Fi service

Virgin Atlantic claims to have been the first airline in Europe to have wi-fi throughout its fleet. Last week, the airline completed the installation of high-speed internet on 39 aircraft on the Boeing 787 and 747 and Airbus 330 and 340 models.

The technology, however, is not free, and will offer options that cost from 2.99 euros (for messages) to 14.99 euros (package available for the entire flight). The companies that work in conjunction with the airline are Panasonic and Gogo.

“The innovation has always been in our blood and we have worked closely with wi-fi providers to develop the fastest and most confident connection in the Atlantic. And we are the first carrier to offer the internet between the UK and the Caribbean, China and Africa, “said Mark Anderson, Executive Vice President of Airline Customers.

A survey by the company itself shows that 42% of customers opt for the wi-fi package throughout the flight. The most popular routes to use this medium leave London (Heathrow) and take off in New York (JFK), San Francisco and Atlanta, all in the United States.

To celebrate this brand, Virgin will launch a series of events in the European summer, starting with the #LiveFromVirgin action directly from the skies.

Virgin flies from the UK to the United States and Caribbean, Africa, Asia and Middle East regions. The company’s and Delta’s customers – both have a joint venture agreement – will have access to the internet on 39 daily transatlantic flights.
