Hotel in Yucatán, Mexico, receives the prize Prix Versailles 2017

The Chablé Resort & Spa hotel, located in the municipality of Chocolá in the state of Yucatan, has received the 2017 Prix Versailles, awarded by UNESCO and the International Union of Architects, as the best hotel in the world in terms of architecture and design, Taking into account the degree of cultural preservation and the original structure.

The Prix Versailles has become known as the World Architecture Award for shops, hotels and restaurants, recognizing the most remarkable structures in terms of external and internal architecture. It is an innovative initiative that aims to promote a better interaction between economy and culture, highlighting the economic agents that develop in a more sustainable way.

Those responsible for giving life to the Chablé project were the designer Paulina Mouran and the architect Jorge Borja. “With the joint work of Mouran and Borja we have been able to achieve this delicate juxtaposition by incorporating modern aesthetics alongside heritage building. The finished product offers guests a balanced and harmonious retreat that honors Mayan traditions without sacrificing global standards of Luxury, “explains Rocco Bova, general manager of the hotel.

The winner hotel is located in a unique setting in the heart of the Mayan Forest, just 25 minutes from the historic city of Merida, being rated with 5 stars and featuring 38 spacious accommodations with independent pools and two extensive 3 bedroom presidential properties in lush gardens . Its world-class spa is the first ever created within a cenote.

Nearby, a traditional 19th century hacienda offers a completely restored and secluded retreat, reminiscent of the elegance and sophistication of the past. “The real luxury is about preserving the soul of an incredible destination, so when Chablé was conceived, it was important to continue telling the story of that old farm through its unique architecture and design elements,” said Rocco.
