The best ski centers in Latin America

For those who like to enjoy the cold to travel, skiing is in the preference of tourists looking for a destination with activities. Thinking about it, Decollar, Latin America’s largest online travel agency, made a list of places.

The best ski centers in Latin America are in Chile and Argentina, where winter in the mountains provides the ideal scenario, in addition to having the option of snowboarding. The two destinations offer excellent infrastructure for visitors: hotels, places that teach and rent equipment, bars, restaurants and even heated swimming pools.

Cerro Catedral, one of the main centers of Argentina and one of the most famous in the South American continent, is open all year round to welcome holidaymakers who are passionate about winter sports. Cerro Bajo, in Villa La Angostura, is known for its excellent services. Also in Argentina, a little less than 300 km from Bariloche, is the Chapelco station, in the small town of San Martin de Los Andes, a small town on the edge of Lake Lácar, which has 22 slopes for skiing and snowboarding. A little further south, in Tierra del Fuego National Park, in Ushuaia, is Castor Mountain, the center with the longest ski season on the continent.

To the south, near San Martin de Los Andes, the Chilean station of Pucón is at the foot of the Villarica volcano and attracts thousands of tourists. Further north of Chile, in Mendoza, near the ski center of Las Leñas, is the station of Portillo Chile, famous among professional skiers, with 19 slopes of different levels of difficulty. Another great resort is Valle Nevado, Chile’s largest ski resort with almost 40 slopes and is 60 km from the capital Santiago, which has been active since 1988. The altitude of these slopes requires a lot of breath and a great skiing.
