Times Square inaugurates four new attractions

Times Square, the iconic megapolis in downtown New York known all over the world, has new attractions. The place, formed by the confluence of two great avenues, intersections and corners, is considered the heart of the city.

In constant evolution like the city itself of New York, Times Square reinvents itself every moment. As if theaters, restaurants and attractions are not enough, four new things start to emerge.

The first attraction of Times Square is Gulliver’s Gate. Taking as a reference the famous book The Travels of Gulliver, written by Jonathan Swift, this interactive exhibition adopts advanced technology. Thanks to her, the visitor leaves the real world and embarks on an unprecedented visual experience.

The miniaturization of places, vehicles, people and animals allows even the scanned visitor to have a children’s version on the scene. Neighborhoods, cities, buildings, monuments, streets, and real or fictional roads, from the United States or the world, succeed each other. On a magical crossing, a thousand little trains pull twelve thousand wagons through hundreds of meters of rails.

3D replicas of locations such as Times Square, Grand Central Terminal, scenes from Manhattan and around the world, plus tiny cars, boats, airplanes, spaceships and even balloons take turns. For this, this project had more than 100 artists from 8 countries. Set in block with football field space, Gulliver’s Gate is located in the building where the New York Times worked.

Until the end of 2017, National Geographic inaugurates the Ocean Odyssey (Ocean Odyssey). This is a breathtaking day at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, through virtual reality technologies, high resolution photos and gigantic screens.

At the show you can interact in real time with sea lions, play with stingrays and dolphins, or see each other face to face with whales, white sharks or huge Humboldt squid.

At 5,500 square meters the visitor can approach the wonders of nature and the incredible creatures that inhabit the deepest and most unreachable waters.

It is also knocking at the door of Times Square this year the legendary Grand Ole Opry of Nashville. It is the most famous venue for country music shows. With four floors in 2,500 square meters, the new entertainment venue includes various environments. There is room for music, listening room, store, restaurant, and a place to honor famous artists who performed on the original Tennessee stage.

For fans of American football comes the NFL Experience Times Square. From a partnership between two leagues (NFL and NFLPA) and Cirque du Soleil, a different immersion experience is born. At 3,700 square meters the project includes a theater for 350 people, interactive activities, educational programs and the best practices of the sport. But that’s not all. There is also a restaurant with food and drinks typical of the stadiums and exhibition with personal items of famous players of this modality.

The evolution of the city does not occur only in Times Square. From the ashes of the tragic destruction of the WTC, an exciting monument emerges. Together, new developments such as shopping center, set of sophisticated restaurants, and 103-storey building with observatory at the top. But the city also has newly created neighborhoods and recycling of the oldest, new museums, plus another subway line after 50 years.

For those who arrive in New York, a habitus or first-time sailor, there is always something to be done. And it’s worth hitting the dot in Times Square where something fun or vibrant always happens. The biggest tasting is getting lost in that organized mess. After all, in the crowd, you can find celebrities or fakes, or just someone in search of easy fame.
